The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

Colin Bowe, trainer of Western Victory (Off Feed) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

C.A. Landers replaced J.P. O'Sullivan on Costalita, trained by P.J. Rothwell (Race 1)(Injury)
D.E. Mullins replaced D.J. Mullins on Vanellope, trained by Peter Croke (Race 3)(Injury)
J.M. Moore replaced R.C. Colgan on Tsarina Sophia, trained by Diarmuid P. Ryan (Race 4)(Unwell)
Mr. J.C. Barry replaced R.C. Colgan on Shanroe Al C, trained by Karl Thornton (Race 6)(Unwell)

028A Surehaul Race Day (Mares) M'dn H'dle

The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last hurdle involving Edene D'arc (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed third and Gipsy Lee Rose (FR), ridden by J.J. Slevin, placed second. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Laughing Trix trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.

028B Derrygrath M'dn H'dle

D.N. Russell, rider of Rakhine State trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped poorly throughout.

J.J. Burke, rider of Automatic trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't handle the hill but stayed on well.

L.P. Gilligan, rider of Urban Cruiser trained by John O. Clifford, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't jump well throughout.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Weihnachts, placed 2nd, ridden by M.P. Walsh, and trained by P.J. Rothwell. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. M.P. Walsh, stated that his instructions were to travel in the first six or seven down the inside and don't get to the front too soon. His mount travelled and jumped brilliantly, but could have come down the hill a little better. In the straight he winged the last hurdle and was all out at the line. Regarding his whip use, he stated that he used it prior to the last but after the last hurdle his mount was trying his best for him without requiring the whip. P.J. Rothwell, confirmed the instructions given to the rider. He stated that his horses had not been running well of late but that this horse was fit and well today. He expressed his satisfaction with the ride. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer that Weihnachts was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

028C Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice H'dle

J.W. Kennedy, rider of Swordsman trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped left throughout and never travelled.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Swordsman, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

028D Minorstown H'cap H'dle

R.P. Treacy, rider of Too Much To Ask, trained by Mrs Julie Cashin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise at the top of the hill.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Young Dev, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards fined Kevin McDonagh, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Turfjager (GER), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Turfjager (GER) in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90.

The Stewards requested a report from Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Glen Of Aherlow, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer's representative, Mr. Jim O'Brien, reported that other than the drop into handicap company for the first time today he could not account for the apparent improvement. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
