The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Emmy Lou (Late withdrawal) - €200.

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

A. Ring replaced L.P. Dempsey on Blackandamber Vic, trained by Norman Lee (Race 3)(Unable to do the weight)(See enquiry)
D.E. Mullins replaced D.J. Casey on Strange Ways, trained by Robert Tyner (Race 7)(Injured)
D.E Mullins replaced D.J. Mullins on Lettermacaward, trained by Michael Winters (Race 8)(Injured)

231A At The Races M'dn H'dle

The Stewards interviewed A.J.Martin, trainer of Oighear Dubh, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that this animal has been difficult in the past and furthermore the tongue strap kept loosening after being fitted. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that A.J. Martin was in breach of Rule 32(ii) by failing to parade his charge in the ring a reasonable time before the signal to mount was given and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his previous recent record into consideration.

231B David Heneghan Memorial H'cap H'dle

D.N. Russell, rider of Marvelous James trained by P.J. Costello, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled throughout this race.

231C Ballinrobe Race Committee (M) H'cap Hdle

The Stewards received a report from P.W. Murtagh , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that L.P. Dempsey , rider of Blackandamber Vic , presented himself at scales to weigh out at 3 lbs overweight and had attempted to weigh out with a body protector that had the crotch strap removed and presented himself again at a later stage without the girths included in his weight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who admitted that he had removed the crotch strap as he had difficulty doing the weight. He further accepted that he presented himself at 3.3lbs overweight and had failed to declare at the overnight declaration stage that he might be 2lbs overweight and furthermore had failed to attempt to ride at the correct weight. He also accepted that the girths were not evident at the time of weighing out as they were wrapped in the non slip pad but on a further return to the scales to attempt to weigh out the girths were missing. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.P. Dempsey was guilty of all charges put before him and was therefore in breach of Rule 195 (i), 198 (i), 198(v) and R10. The Stewards fined L.P. Dempsey €150 for a breach of Rule 195 (i)(overweight) and furthermore suspended him for 14 racedays for repeated offences at scales which amounted to breaches of Rules 198(i), 198(v) and R10 (Equipment and body protector).

The Stewards received a report from P.W. Murtagh , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that J.M. Moore , rider of Sounds Of Thunder (GB) , weighed in at 1.6 lbs overweight and furthermore his saddle was missing a leather and iron. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was doing a light weight and only sucked two ice cubes after weighing out. He added that the leather and iron were attached to his saddle when he dismounted and could not account for their disappearance between the parade ring and the weighing scales. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that rider J.M. Moore was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for 1 raceday.

231D Maloney & Matthews H'cap H'dle

The Stewards fined S. Slevin, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Ash Rowe, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards fined Norman Lee, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Olor, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

231F Corrib Oil H'cap S'chase

The Stewards fined Martin Brassil, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Drumlee, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards requested a report from Martin Brassil, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Drumlee, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Martin Brassil reported that he only acquired this animal in the spring and having run too free in his races, the tactics were changed today where he was dropped in off the pace and he only arrived going to the last fence travelling well which enabled him to finish his race. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

231G Donal Downes H'cap S'chase

The Stewards fined Norman Lee, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Survival, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards fined John G. Carr, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of King Norman, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

D.N. Russell, rider of Milan Breeze trained by Miss Amanda Mooney, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled throughout this race.

S.J. Gray, rider of Banana Flambe trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle slipped in running and consequently he pulled up his mount.

Miss Amanda Mooney, trainer of Milan Breeze, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge scoped dirty post race

231H On Course Vets Beginners S'chase

P. Carberry, rider of Georges Conn trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his girths slipped back during the race.
