196C Tote H'cap

The Stewards enquired into the falls of Dream Point, ridden by D. O'Brien and Brass Button, ridden by A. Persse, on the bend leaving the back straight. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned who both stated that the track was presented in very good condition but their respective mounts were racing wide at that bend when they lost their hind legs for no apparent reason. A. Persse added that he was unable to keep his balance and got unseated. Having considered the evidence and viewed a recording of the race, the Stewards noted their comments.

The Stewards requested a report from Michael Mulvany, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Stormy Tale, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Navan. Michael Mulvany reported that he was disappointed with his charges run at Navan and felt that the only explanation that he could suggest related to his charge being unsuited by the ground conditions at Navan, officially described as being good to firm and firm in places whereas today's easier underfoot conditions allowed her to let herself down. He added that his filly had also shown better form on tighter tracks. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

Ms. Sheila Lavery, trainer of Danehill Quest, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her charge lost a front shoe during this race.

196E Tote Apprentice H'cap

G.P. Brouder, rider of Tessonna, trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped soon after leaving the stalls.

R. Coakley, rider of Almontaser (FR) trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left in the straight.

The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone , Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that G.P. Halpin , rider of Jake Peter , weighed in at 1.2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had to change his boots after weighing out as they were new and irritating a current problem. He added that he also had a small drink but today's weight was never a problem for him. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that G.P. Halpin was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore cautioned him having taken his good previous record into consideration.

R. Coakley, rider of Almontaser (FR), trained by John James Feane, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was a big raw horse which was not best suited by the track and had nowhere to go off the bend at the end of the back straight, had hit a ridge before the turn into the home straight, got unbalanced but ran on well in the closing stages.

196F Tote H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bibliotheca (JPN), trained by W.P.Browne, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

196G Win Big With Tote M'dn

The Stewards enquired into possible interference on the final turn involving Party Playboy (GER), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed third and Treasure Chest, ridden by D. O'Brien, placed second, where it appeared Treasure Chest ran off the last bend and collided with Party Playboy (GER). Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Navajo Ridge, trained by D. K. Weld, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
